What Inspired you to start your business?

“Cleerely Stated was actually created out of my own personal need. I was going through a ard tim and decided to make Scripture Cards for myself. I had been blogging and practiced some inspirational writing in the past but needed something that helped me keep His Word at the forefront of my mind and helped me apply that Word, which is how the declarations came into being. I had several people request them for themselves, our local boutique started selling them (and selling out!), and I realized- wait, maybe God is showing me something! Then, the floodgates opened. It was like once I actually got out of my own way, I had all these words stored in my heart ready to share with others.”

What advice would you give a student or aspiring entrepreneur?

“Remember the most important thing about your work is who you become while doing it. Remember where you started and remain humble; But also remember how far you’ve come and be courageous. e need your gif, your passio, your talen, so get after it! What are you waiting for?”

How has social media influenced or helped your business? Do you have an example?

”Social media has propelled the creative industry in so many ways! For Cleerely Stated, it has been an avenue where I can encourage others and share what’s on my heart and what the Lord is showing me. I write a devotional about every other day and that has provided the coolest connections with others, allowing me to immediately break the ice with my followers and customers on a deeper level. Having the ability to meet others at gift market or out and about and hear them say, “I needed your devotion the other day’– that makes me smile so big! Social media has also proven to be an extremely successful method of customer acquisition, developing our brand identity, and helping spread product awareness.

From a creative perspective, social media has been such a neat tool to see all the many ways others are using their gifts and changing the world! It’s crazy that we have a front-row seat to things people are doing all over the place and I think social media has a lot to do with that.”

Who do you admire and why?

”Oh man, there are so many incredible people I admire, where do I begin!?

I deeply admire my parents. They are both entrepeneurs who instilled in me the power of hard work, the importance of integrity, and really opened my eyes to the opportunities all around me. They believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself and for that, I can never repay them!

A few specific people that immediately come to mind– Billy Graham, Lysa Terkeurst, C.S. Lewis, Bob Goff, and Joanna Gaines. There are so many others, too! I have a deep respect for each of these people for different reasons. Billy Graham was humble, kind, and lived with eternity in mind. His urgency to spread the Gospel was nothing short of bringing Heaven to Earth.

I love the work of C.S. Lewis. His words are direct, challenging, and full of truth! I love how he speaks about Jesus.

Lysa Terkeurst is one of my favorite authors and after hearing her speak several times, I can relate to so much of her story. She is a woman of resilience and offers transparency on the not so romantic parts of life. I appreciate her so much!

Bob Goff has to be the most contagious human being I have ever met. His joy and zest for life can be seen through every word he writes.

And Joanna Gaines, well, does she even need an explanation? But seriously, I love the entire Gaines family. The first time I visited Magnolia, I felt like I was watching people run around and experience a little bit of Heaven on earth. I feel as though the Magnolia brand as a whole just offers this whole other way of life and they have never compromised their beliefs for success. Instead, their beliefs have been the main reason for their success! Not to mention, I want to be her next Fixer Upper.”

What is next for your business?

”My dream is to speak and to write. I am currently working on a few writing projects and collaborations and am really excited about those! I want Cleerely Stated to be a resource others can depend on to always offer truth, grace, kindness, and hope.  I want Cleerely Stated to be a direct reflection of the joy found in Jesus and I want it to be a brand that can resonate with everyone.”

What do you think has been your greatest accomplishment thus far?

”Gosh, that’s a hard one! It’s always weird talking about my accomplishments. Honestly, I think showing up at Atlanta Gift Market the first time. I have never felt more naked and vulnerable in my life! Exposing your creative self to the world and asking, “Will you buy this? Will you believe in this with me?”- now that is a scary feeling. But it’s also incredibly freeing. I consider getting out of my uhaul and setting up that space to be my greatest accomplishment thus far because for the first time, I had to decide that Cleerely Stated was worth fighting for, pursuing, and mustering up the courage to share it with others.”
