What inspired you to start your business?

I wanted to find a way to celebrate family traditions and create meaningful heirlooms using my background in interior design and textiles. I love the idea of a home being curated and collected, rather than designed. I created June St. George to give clients the opportunity to create unique, personalized pieces for their home. We love when clients create a piece to celebrate a milestone in their life – whether it be a new baby (or fur baby!), a marriage, a graduation, a new home or simply a chance to celebrate their style! 

What advice would you give a student or aspiring entrepreneur?

Build a network around you. I would happily give everyone I chatted with my 30-second elevator pitch as I was planning my business. It helped me gauge what ideas and aspects caught people’s attention, and sometimes they would even have ideas or connections to share with me. This helped me refine my plan and have a clear, concise image of June St. George when I launched. Just by talking through my plan with people willing to help and listen, I solved so many problems or was connected with people that could help!

How has social media influenced or helped your business? Do you have an example?

Social media is an incredible place to build and showcase your brand! I love teaming up with other designers and brands and taking them through the June St. George experience. They can share their experience with their followers and show their audience how to engage with the design tool and ideas to create their own rug! 

Who do you admire and why?

Going back to building a network, I am inspired by the women I have surrounded myself with. It is fabulous to have big brands or design icons to look up to and be inspired by. But I find the best day-to-day inspiration in women who are working hard and following their dreams like me!

What is next for your business?

June St. George launched just over a year ago, so I am still growing and expanding the collections and refining the experience. I am also excited to share collaborations launching this year to continue to offer new and exciting designs. Each design allows flexibility and personalization for the client to create their own family heirloom and celebrate their bespoke life.
