Meet Jennifer! She makes the cutest parties that come right to you with everything you need, all in a box! Literally just unpack you’ve got a party ready to go. She has a great eye for style and a unique business that we can’t get enough of! Check out our interview below to find out more about A Party Made Perfect…
What inspired you to start your business?
A Party Made Perfect was born out of my pure love of styling parties. When I found myself a single mother after 7 years of marriage, I decided to begin what I had long been dreaming of. I started my company in the summer of 2017 because I wanted everyone to be able to throw a fab bash too! I saw a market need and went for it. Just because your party comes in a box doesn’t mean you have to think inside of one!
What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur?
Only put out content/ work that you are 100% proud of. Once your work is out in the world, you can’t reel it back in. The internet is forever haha! It’s one thing to look back on something you’ve done and even laugh at yourself, but putting something out there that you don’t feel good about with from the start is different.
How has social media influenced or helped your business?
Instagram put my business on the map. But it takes WORK. I spend hours every week working on content, planning posts, and perfecting my feed aesthetic. The apps Planoly and A Color Story have been critical in making my Instagram successful and streamlined. With shoppable posts and creators being able to tag products in posts on the horizon, Instagram is everything.
I also spend significant time engaging with other accounts. That’s how I first connected with Paige Minear of The Pink Clutch Blog. She’s a local Atlantan as well. One day I spotted her while out shopping. I was shy (practically starstruck) and decided not to bother her, but I had been spotted haha! Rather, I DM’d her later that afternoon. Flash forward three months later, I was setting up a custom party in her beautiful home for her daughter and friends. In the coming weeks of her sharing the party on her blog and Instagram, I gained at least 50, quality followers per day. I have worked with several major clients who found me through Paige. She continues to be supportive, and better yet, a true friend.
Who do you admire and why?
Diane Von Furstenberg. She has remained authentic and true to herself since her first wrap dress hit the runway in the seventies. Her talent is unsurmountable, her style impeccable, and her drive to succeed unparalleled. She exited the fashion scene for years and returned bigger and better than ever. Diane is like your best friend that you can pick up with right where you left off 5 years ago. She’s a true icon and an inspiration for all women. Now if only I had more of my mom’s original DVF pieces from the seventies!
What is next for your business?
My primary goal in 2019 is to expand the local side of my business. I ship party kits all over the country but there is so much untapped opportunity right here in Atlanta. While maintaining a focus on the custom party side of my business, my ultimate aspiration is to work on more content creation for other brands. I’m passionate about styling- not just my own work but that of others as well.
